Many of us recall Tim O’Brien’s keynote lecture in Oak Park, “Timmy and Tad and Papa and I” a 2016 conference highlight. You can now time-travel back to that magical night in Lund Auditorium at Dominican University by enjoying a video of that keynote presentation.
O’Brian has a new book, Dad’s Maybe Book, about fatherhood, literature, and America’s wars. The new book was inspired by his conference essay. He spent several months reworking the keynote essay as part of the book. O’Brien reads himself in the audio version - you will laugh, you will cry.
It is O’Brien’s second book of nonfiction, a memoir of sorts that rounds out a career that began with the war memoir If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home (1973).
